Italian Inspiration
I was recently invited to come to Italy by one of my fabric producers so I welcomed the opportunity. Great food and a good dose of inspiration was exactly what I needed. And where better to be inspired than Italy, where I source my wonderful textiles and my designs are hand crafted. It has always fuelled my creativity and this trip was no exception.
It’s not just the fashion but overall culture and lifestyle – the incredible food and wine, theatrical language, awe inspiring architecture and art.
One of the many highlights of my trip was discovering four hundred year old floor to ceiling frescos in a church turned café/cantina.
The transformation was incredible! This is a perfect example of the inspiration that helps fuel my creative process when designing my collections. Four hundred years ago it was a cathedral and now it’s a cafe suitable for modern times. It makes me realise the endless possibilities. Just as through the course of time this building and its frescos have been reinvented, fashion is also always being reinvented, recycled and adapted to the current time.
There are no limitations to what we can do when we tap into our creativity!
