Press Release for Spring 2010 "Piacere" Collection
Cheri Milaney will be returning to LG Fashion Week Beauty By L'Oreal on Thursday, October 22 to unveil Piacere: Making Time For Pleasure, her Spring 2010 collection and she is excited to showcase her design inspiration and vision. For the first time ever on the runway, the designer will present live the transition from what we see on professional models on the runway to how real women interpret the fashion trends to project their unique personal style on the street. To do this, the designer will open the show with the collection shown on professional models and end it with a grand finale featuring Canadian celebrated role model women, of diverse ethnicity, age and size projecting their unique style with looks from Cheri Milaney's Piacere collection.
Inspired by Italy, where Cheri Milaney travels several times throughout the Year to develop her clothing, jewellery, and, most recently, fragrance collections, and also by Italy's Latin origins of Horace's poem--Carpe Diem: Seize the Moment, Cheri's relentless drive and commitment to her label's constant evolution has prompted her not only to seize opportunities that lead to greater challenges, a higher confidence and empowerment, but also to make time for pleasure and savour life's blissful moments; and she is making it a reality.
Piacere, a Collection of Contrasts
Piacere reveals the contrast between the concrete urban life and the soothing, gentle nuance of natural environment; it is expressed with the idea of a "garden in the city" where a woman finds moments to celebrate what's important in her daily life. The structure of brocade, crisp shantung and cotton, plus innovative memory fabric is the foundation from which transparent chiffon and ultra-fine knits add softness and movement. Revealing the nature of each fabric through draping, ruching, gathers, and special details such as seaming and beading on organza ribbon, adds depth and character.
Key silhouettes with cinched waists and perfect lengths encompass a gentle airiness throughout the collection. Key pieces include memory brocade show-stopper jackets, kimono style blouses, laser-cut dresses, gathered bottom pants and skirts, softly tailored Italian knits featuring ruching details on the waist and necklines. A palette of city neutrals, black and white, cream, mocha and taupe are invigorated with fresh lime and khaki greens, rich teal and pink-purples from plum to soft rose to fun-loving bubblegum. The designer collection offers an array of affordable pieces to complement every woman's existing wardrobe, including ultra-soft Italian-knit tunics and cardigans, and sweater knits, all ranging between $125-$190.00; an assortment of light weight stretch pants and skirts in a variety of shapes to suit all women priced between $150-$200; show-stopper jackets and dresses in memory brocades that are a pleasure to wear priced between $295 and $455, to name just a few. Piacere will be available at better boutiques across Canada in late February 2010.
