Canadian Fashion Designer, Cheri Milaney, is building on the success of her company following her premier show at Toronto’s LG Fashion Week in March 2009, where she boldly showcased her Viola Fall 2009 collection on real women. The designer now is excited to announce expansion into the fragrance category this fall/holiday season with the Cheri Milaney Facets Fragrance Collection: Ametista, Perla, Rubino and Topazio. Created in Italy, the scents are named in Italian after their respective gems, whose intriguing aesthetic properties make a glamorous connection with the clothing and accessories Cheri Milaney already designs.
Inspiration and Significance: Cheri Milaney Facets Fragrance Collection was created in response to the desires of women to confidently express their unique style according to mood and occasion. A woman’s personal style and scent are a reflection of who she is, how she feels and where she finds herself in a particular moment or facet of her life. For this reason, the designer has chosen to launch not one, but a collection of four scents to offer women options, and she says, “I’m encouraging women to let self-expression of their individual style including fragrance preference bring contemporary glamour to their daily life. I invite women to experience every scent in my Facets Fragrance Collection, Ametista, Perla, Rubino and Topazio, individually; to let each scent come in contact with her skin. Only after experiencing the entire collection a woman will be able to select one she’ll call her signature scent because it makes her feel special and glamorous, or she may simply fall in love with all four scents, because they are suitable for different facets of her life.
From Dream to Reality: Cheri Milaney Facets Fragrance Collection is the realization of a long time dream that originated from the designer’s memories of her mother’s passion for fragrance and the special fragrance gift her mother gave her on her sixteenth birthday, and from her own love and appreciation of her great grandmother’s exquisite faceted fragrance bottles. "My passion for fragrance was founded on several generations of my family and it was my vivid and pleasant memories of my mother’s scent that prompted me to first experiment with fragrance oils and later dream of developing high quality fragrances with a specialized perfumer in Italy."
Cheri Milaney began developing her Facets Fragrance Collection during one of her many business trips to Italy, where for nearly a decade, every new season, she has been sourcing her line of accessories and collaborating with reputable mills to create exclusive fabrics for her clothing collections. Cheri found a like-minded fragrance partner in a Neapolitan perfume specialist who shared her passion for the art of fragrance and the process of creating truly unique scents. Working side-by-side during three intensive lab sessions in Napoli, the two experimented with combinations of high quality organic essential oils to create magic, and the Cheri Milaney Facets Fragrance Collection.
Scents for all seasons: Cheri Milaney Facets Fragrance Collection celebrates the diversity of women and how every woman reveals herself one facet at a time. AMETISTA: SPICE
Spicy, bold and dramatic; top notes of cinnamon, orange and red pepper blend together to add drama; middle notes of jasmine, rose and ylang ylang round out the scent. Finally, it finishes with base notes of vanilla and patchouli.
Amethyst gems represent boldness, strength and dynamism. They are intriguing, avant-garde, outspoken and full of life. Ametista is for a confident woman who quite enjoys being noticed at an exciting evening gala or celebration.
PERLA: ELEGANCE
Classic, sophisticated and refined; the scent opens with a fresh bouquet of green florals and rose; it’s rounded with the timeless jasmine, complimented by violet, orchid and plum. It ends with base notes of amber and musk.
Pearls embody sophistication, refinement and elegance without ever being overstated. With a quiet confidence, Perla is perfect for everyday or for a special occasion: a wedding, anniversary, the opera or dinner.
RUBINO: SENSUALITY
Floral, sweet and romantic; top notes are layers of florals such as white and red rose; then rounded with middle notes of green apple, pear and violet and more floral layers. It finishes with musk and vanilla.
Rubies signify passion, love and romance. Rubino is seductive and sensual, and brings the world of romance into your life. When a woman is ready to reveal her softer side, Rubino is ready for an intimate and personal getaway or a celebration of love.
TOPAZIO: FRESHNESS
Natural, light and fresh; it starts out fresh and calming with notes of cedar, Sicilian lemon, lime and lemon grass. Middle notes of bamboo, jasmine, fig and white rose round out the scent. It finishes with amber and cedar.
Blue Topaz captures the cool blue of the ocean and sky. Topazio is light, breezy and easy to wear. It promises naturally grounded confidence. It is perfect at work, after the gym, lunch alone or with friends.

When Cheri Milaney created her Facets Fragrance Collection, finding the perfect bottle became as important as the creation of the four scents. The designer envisioned a more contemporary version of the multi-faceted bottles belonging to her mother and great grandmother which had launched her into the exciting world of fragrance.
The Facets bottle is made of high quality glass and built from a strong and solid base to convey a great depth of character. The relatively narrow side facets give it a smooth, curvy and elegant appeal to honor the contemporary multi-faceted woman the Facets Collection celebrates. A clear Lucite cap trimmed with gold and shaped much like the bottle itself completes the bottle design.
