Cheri Milaney was destined to embark on the exciting world of fashion. She was already manifesting signs of a career when she was only six years old, sketching elaborate ball gowns. Cheri honed her natural talents at Olds College where she earned a Fashion Merchandising and Production diploma. She also studied privately under a French couturier to develop her couture skills. After her studies, she gained invaluable experience in retail sales management, fashion editorial and art direction, and visual merchandising and display. Cheri introduced her first Pret-a-Porter collection under the Cheri Milaney label in 1998 and still maintains creative control as the company’s principal designer.
As a woman herself Cheri appreciates that women want fashion they feel comfortable wearing and allows them to express their individuality. In the design process Cheri continually strives to create silhouettes that flatter the figure and enhance a woman’s best features. She’s meticulous about sourcing beautiful fabrics and trims, most of which are imported from Italy, to make every design unique and special.
In recognition of her talent, Cheri was honoured with the Matinee Fashion Foundation Award, Canada’s most prestigious fashion award. She also boasts an impressive list of international shows including Ningbo (China) International Fashion Week, Torino (Italy) Olympics Fashion Show, Vancouver (Canada) Fashion Week, and Toronto (Canada) Fashion Week. She has dressed numerous celebrities including Monita Rajpal/CNN Anchor, Emmanuelle Vaugier/Actress, Amy Sky/Singer and Song Writer, Erica Ehm/TV Personality, Tonya Lee Williams/Actress, The Young and the Restless, to name a few. Cheri has been featured in countless publications including National Post, The Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, Vancouver Sun, Hamilton Spectator, Calgary Herald, Chatelaine, Canadian Living, Elle, Famous Magazine, Women’s Post, and Vie Magazine.
