Cheri Milaney's Biography

Cheri Milaney was destined to embark on the exciting world of fashion. She was already manifesting signs of a career in fashion when she was only six years of age, sketching designs. Cheri honed her natural talents at Olds College where she obtained a Fashion Merchandising and Production diploma. She also studied privately under a French couturier to develop her couture skills, with the goal of elevating her Prêt-à-Porter collections. Cheri Milaney has studied Old World Art techniques including tempera, oil and fresco at L'Accademia D'arte in Florence, Italy.  She reinterprets original old world paintings done by the masters, mainly from the Renaissance period.  Cheri’s continues to be inspired by the passionate culture of Italy, where she has lived and still visits regularly.

As principal designer for the Cheri Milaney label, she has over 15 years of industry experience including retail sales management, fashion editorial and art direction, visual merchandising and display. Cheri's designs are unique, creative and for real women. As a woman herself, Cheri knows what it feels like to want the perfect outfit to express your individuality and be comfortable wearing it. In the design process, Cheri continually strives to create silhouettes that flatter the figure and enhance a woman's best features. She's meticulous about sourcing her fabrics and trims, most of which are imported from Italy, to make every design unique and special.

The Cheri Milaney brand is distributed throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. She was accepted into one of the most prestigious trade shows in New York. In 2009 she launched her first collection of fragrances inspired by and made in Italy. In Fall 2009, in honour of the women she is inspired by and designs for, she took the bold step of being one of the few courageous designers in the world to feature "real women", non-professional models, on the runway. Her message was to challenge the status quo beauty and body image ideal in the fashion industry. The response from the media and general public was overwhelming. Cheri was featured in regional, national and international media around the world and received hundreds of emails from women praising her courage and design talent.
